Evergreen Clause: This enables a superintendent to have his/her multiyear contract continually extended with satisfactory performances.
“The Superintendent’s contract shall be extended for one year from the following July, contingent upon having acceptably met the mutually established performance expectations.”
Processes & Tool Development by Mutual Agreement: It is a more favorable arrangement when the manner in which a person is to be evaluated is developed and agreed upon mutually:
“The Superintendent’s performance shall be evaluated by the Board annually, not later than March 31, using a mutually acceptable process.”
The success of a superintendent hinges on the effectiveness of the board to work together as a team in providing clear direction and solid support. The March 31 deadline is required by law if an unacceptable performance review might occur.
