Chapter 3: Media Relations

State and local media provide MASA members with another set of tools for engaging lawmakers and voters alike.  Both groups read newspapers, watch television news, and listen to the radio.  Lawmakers especially understand that for every letter to the editor they read in their local newspaper, there are potentially a significant number of people who care about the same issues.

Through op-ed columns, letters to the editor, and interviews, it is possible to shape and drive the debate around the issues of the day.  This section will teach you to harness the power of the press to get out your message and drive the issues that lawmakers and people in your community are talking about.
